When it comes to animals, I admit that I am 100% a cat person. So when I heard about Cooper, the Cat Photographer I just had to know more about this adorable working cat! Cooper, himself, “is a 6-year-old American Shorthair living in Seattle, Washington. Once a week, he wears a lightweight digital camera fastened to his collar, which snaps a new photo every 2 minutes.” The idea of a cat that is able to actually capture a cat’s eye view of the world around him is intriguing. I think we all too often forget that the human-perspective on the environment we live in is not the only perspective that exists. As a cat owner, I often wonder how the world looks from their point of view.
I was given the wonderful chance to review Cooper’s Cat Cam Book and it is absolutely fantastic. The moment I sat down on the couch to browse through it, my children immediately had to rush over once I informed them that I was looking at a book of pictures taken by a cat. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the photos, but I was pleasantly surprised. The book contains photos from various aspects of Cooper’s outings and several contain his “friends” along the way. Some of my favorite photos actually were light blurs that really reminded me of what a cat would see if they were “racing around at night.” My children especially loved all the photos of Cooper and my 2-year-old Daughter had to keep reminding me about how “cute kitty’s pink nose is.” I also received a limited-edition magnet, which is proudly displayed on my refrigerator! I have to keep a close eye on it because my Daughter keeps trying to steal it away for herself (*smile).

When I brought the review package in the house, my cats could not get to it fast enough! I laid down the catnip ball and my cat, Orin, immediately threw himself on top of it. He then began to lick it like a lollipop, which was adorable. There was no mess. There was nothing to clean up. It was awesome. Best of all, the ball is still here. One ball can last for quite some time, which is a far cry from the usual sack of catnip that can last a few days, if I am lucky. A treat and a toy all wrapped into a perfect cat-ready package is something I have been waiting for as a pet owner.
